Why I Chose In-Home Physical Therapy
I am a mom of four. I have been the woman sitting in a parking lot with a screaming newborn in the backseat, running late for my own appointment, wondering if it was even worth going inside. I have been the patient trying to describe something deeply personal about my body while strangers shuffled past the exam room door. I know what it feels like when the medical system moves on to the baby and forgets about the mom.
That is why Where You Are Physical Therapy exists. I did not want to build another clinic. I wanted to build something different. I believe your home is a place of healing. I had one of my own babies at home because I believe that deeply. And I believe that when a woman is recovering from childbirth, dealing with pelvic pain, or struggling with incontinence, the last thing she needs is another errand to run. She needs someone to show up for her, right where she is.
In-home physical therapy in Oxford, MS is not a convenience add-on for me. It is the entire point. I bring expert pelvic floor physical therapy directly to your living room, your bedroom, whatever space works for you. No waiting room. No rushing. No guilt about leaving your baby with someone else. Just you and me, working on getting you better.
What Makes Mobile Physical Therapy Different
- Your baby stays with you — No scrambling for childcare. Your kids are right there. I have worked around nap schedules, nursing sessions, and toddler chaos. It is all welcome.
- Real privacy — Pelvic floor therapy involves sensitive conversations and examinations. Your own home is the most private, comfortable place to have them.
- No driving with symptoms — If you are dealing with pelvic pain or urgency, the last thing you need is a 20-minute car ride. I come to you.
- Undivided attention — In a clinic, your therapist might be managing three patients at once. With me, you get my full attention for the entire session.
- It actually fits your life — Flexible scheduling that works around your recovery, not a clinic's office hours.
What an In-Home Pelvic Floor Therapy Session Actually Looks Like
If you have never had in-home physical therapy before, you might be wondering how it works. Here is what to expect when I show up at your door.
I arrive at your home with everything I need: a portable treatment table, clean linens, assessment tools, and any therapeutic supplies for our session. You do not need to prepare anything special. A room with enough floor space for the table is all we need. Your living room, guest room, even your bedroom — whatever feels most comfortable.
For your first visit, we spend a full 90 minutes together. I want to hear your story — not just your symptoms, but what your daily life looks like, what you are struggling with, what you want to get back to doing. Then I perform a thorough pelvic floor assessment. I explain everything before I do it, and you are always in control. After the evaluation, I walk you through what I found and we build your treatment plan together.
Follow-up sessions are about 60 minutes. I show up, set up, and we get to work. If your baby needs to nurse halfway through, we pause. If your toddler wanders in, that is fine. This is your home and your session. I am here to work around your life, not the other way around.
When we are done, I pack up and leave. No commute home for you. No rushing to pick up kids. You are already where you need to be.
You Deserve Care — No Matter Where You Are in Your Journey
I want to be clear about something: whatever your birth experience was, however long it has been since you had your baby, wherever you are in your recovery — you are not too late, and you are not overreacting. Women are chronically under-cared for after childbirth. The six-week checkup is not enough. You deserve more than "everything looks fine" when things do not feel fine.
In-home pelvic floor therapy in Oxford is especially valuable if you are:
- A new mom — Whether your baby is two weeks old or two years old, postpartum recovery does not have an expiration date. I will meet you where you are.
- Pregnant and preparing for birth — Pelvic floor preparation during pregnancy can make a meaningful difference in your delivery and recovery. And yes, I do this in your home too.
- Dealing with incontinence — Leaking when you cough, sneeze, run, or laugh is common, but it is not something you have to accept. Incontinence is treatable, and you do not have to talk about it in a waiting room.
- Living with pelvic pain — Chronic pelvic pain, painful sex, or pain that started after delivery — these conditions require careful, private, hands-on treatment. Your home is the right setting for this work.
- Recovering from C-section — C-section recovery is real recovery. Scar tissue, core weakness, and pelvic floor dysfunction after surgery all respond to physical therapy.
- A man with pelvic health concerns — Men's pelvic health — including post-prostatectomy recovery, erectile dysfunction, and chronic pelvic pain — benefits from the privacy and convenience of in-home care.
There is no judgment here. I do not care if your house is messy. I do not care if you are still in your pajamas at 2pm. I care that you are getting the help you need.

In-Home PT vs. Clinic-Based PT: An Honest Comparison
I have worked in clinics. I know what that world looks like from the inside. Clinic-based physical therapy is fine for a lot of things. But for pelvic floor care — especially postpartum pelvic floor care — in-home physical therapy in Oxford, MS is a better fit for most of the women I work with. Here is why.
| Factor | In-Home PT with Dr. Meg | Typical Clinic |
|---|---|---|
| Privacy | Complete privacy in your own home | Shared spaces, thin walls, other patients nearby |
| Your Kids | They stay home with you. No childcare needed. | You need to arrange childcare or skip the appointment |
| Therapist Attention | 100% of my time, 100% of the session | Therapist often splits time between 2-3 patients |
| Travel | Zero. I drive to you. | You drive with pelvic pain, urgency, or a newborn in the car |
| Wait Time | I start when I arrive. No waiting room. | 15-30 minutes is standard, sometimes longer |
| Scheduling | Flexible times, including some evenings | Business hours only at most clinics |
| Effectiveness | Same evidence-based techniques, better consistency | High cancellation rates due to logistics |
The biggest advantage of mobile physical therapy is not just comfort — it is consistency. When getting to your appointment is easy, you actually go. And consistency is what drives results.
More Than Physical Therapy
In addition to in-home pelvic floor PT, I also offer doula services for families in the Oxford area who want continuous support during labor and delivery. My background in pelvic floor physical therapy gives me a unique perspective as a doula — I understand the body mechanics of birth in a way that complements the emotional and advocacy support doulas provide. If you are pregnant and thinking about both birth support and postpartum recovery, we can talk about how these services work together.

Frequently Asked Questions About In-Home Physical Therapy in Oxford, MS
Does insurance cover in-home physical therapy?
Where You Are PT is a cash-pay practice, which means you pay at the time of your visit. I provide a superbill after each session that you can submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. Many of my patients get a significant portion of the cost back from their insurance company. I also accept HSA and FSA cards. During your free discovery call, I can walk you through how this works and what to expect with your specific plan.
How does in-home pelvic floor therapy work?
I bring everything to you — portable treatment table, clean linens, all assessment and treatment tools. Your first visit is a 90-minute evaluation where we go through your full history and I perform a thorough pelvic floor assessment. Follow-up visits are about 60 minutes of hands-on therapy, exercises, and education. All you need is a quiet room with space for a treatment table. Your kids can be home, your baby can be on your chest — the whole point of mobile physical therapy is that your life keeps going while you get better.
Is in-home PT as effective as clinic PT?
Yes. I use the same evidence-based assessment and treatment techniques I would use in any clinic. The difference is you get my undivided attention for the entire session — no splitting time with other patients, no interruptions from clinic staff. Many patients actually progress faster with in-home care because the barrier to showing up is gone. You do not cancel because you could not find a sitter or because traffic on Highway 6 was bad. You just walk to your living room.
What areas do you serve near Oxford, MS?
I serve Oxford and all of Lafayette County, plus Water Valley, Batesville, Abbeville, Taylor, Toccopola, and communities within about 30 miles of Oxford. If you live along the Highway 7 corridor, Highway 6, or anywhere in the greater Oxford area, I can almost certainly come to you. Call (662) 832-1790 if you are not sure.
Do I need a doctor's referral for in-home physical therapy in Mississippi?
No. Mississippi is a direct access state. You can book directly with me without a referral from your doctor. That said, if your OB/GYN, midwife, or primary care provider did refer you, I am happy to coordinate care with them. Learn more on our FAQ page.
What if I am nervous about pelvic floor therapy?
That is completely normal, and you are not alone. Most of my patients feel some nervousness before their first session. Here is what I want you to know: I explain everything before I do it. You are always in control. We go at your pace. And being in your own home — instead of a clinical exam room — makes a real difference in how comfortable you feel. By the second visit, most patients tell me they wish they had started sooner.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your condition, how long you have been dealing with it, and how your body responds. Some patients see meaningful improvement in 4-6 sessions. Others benefit from longer-term care. I offer care plans that make consistent treatment affordable, and we will talk honestly about what I think you need during your evaluation. I am not going to keep you in treatment longer than you need to be.
